Cemetery

Management

The Council owns and is responsible for the management of the cemetery on Easton Lane. The cemetery has provision for burials, the interment of ashes and green burials. There is a working group of Parish Councillors who are responsible for the cemetery and the current members are shown on the Representatives and Working Groups page.  We also employ a Burial Registrar to administer burials and interments.

Green burials are only available to Bozeat residents.  However, a person who left the village for permanent residential care, is still considered to be a Bozeat resident.

The churchyard is managed by North Northamptonshire Council although Bozeat St Mary’s Conservation Churchyard group manages much of it as a wildlife area.

Guidelines

The management of a cemetery requires sensitivity and must consider the wishes of all bereaved families.  A set of guidelines are used to ensure that the cemetery is managed in a consistent way in the best interests of all.  They explain the normal use of the cemetery and give full details of the regulations applied.  These are reviewed and updated to address any new issues of regulations.  The latest version can be found here.

Fees

The fees for the different types of grave spaces are reviewed annually and the schedule of fees can be found here.
