Memorial Testing

All memorials have been tested in section C of the cemetery, in accordance with the Council’s Memorial Testing Policy.  Letters have been sent to next of kin for the memorials requiring attention.  Where possible, due to the sensitivity of the issue, the letters have been hand delivered so that face to face communication could take place.  Some of the memorials have already been repaired.

The memorial testing will commence in section’s A and B shortly.

Grounds Maintenance

A meeting has taken place with the contractor to discuss a plan for the winter maintenance and to identify work required.

Some mowing issues were discussed and resolved.

Seven trees with overhanging branches were identified as priority work.  This is not in the remit of the contract and a quote for this work to be forwarded.

A tree audit is required as some of the trees within the cemetery are extremely large and will require maintenance in the future.  The contractor to forward a name of a person they work with in this specialised field.

Shrub cutting and shaping is part of the current contract.  Some shrubs to be given a more intense  prune which will enable a better shape in the future.

Consideration to be given to the herbaceous beds and how we want to plant these.

A request has been made for the dates the contractors will be working throughout the year.

On first inspection there are only a few metal railings that need repairing.  A further inspection to be undertaken before a decision is made on the repair of these.

All other Cemetery issues are in hand and will be reported accordingly.
