CEMETERY REPORT – OCTOBER 2022                                  APPENDIX A

TREES

  1. The Contractor has been notified that the Council has agreed to the quote of £1400 for the urgent tree pollarding.  They are scheduling this into October’s work schedule.

 

  1. Contact has been made with a Contractor for a quote to assess all of the trees within the Cemetery in relation to the safety of these. Priority can them be given to any work required.

 

WAR MEMORIAL CLEANING

A request has been made with a Contractor for a quote to clean the War Memorial within the Cemetery.  Photographs and the measurements of the war memorial have been forwarded.

 

REPAIR TO RAILINGS

Cllrs Morris and Docker have met to assess the railings in the Cemetery.  After assessing the front and side of the railings, it became clear that the repairs will be a larger project than first thought.

Some of the railings at the side may need whole panels.

It was agreed that Cllr Docker take advice over the next few weeks from a specialist welder.  Further assessments will then take place and a report will be presented to the Council.  This project, if agreed can be considered when preparing the budgets for 2023.

 

EXTENSION TO GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE

Cllr Docker has contacted a Contractor to arrange to meet in the Cemetery to discuss this project. A report will be presented to the Council in relation to the cost of this.

MEMORIAL INSPECTIONS

All memorials have been inspected within area C of the Cemetery.  Several memorials have been considered at risk, in line with legislation.  Letters have been sent to relatives.  The group inspecting these to meet to see if any remedial work has been undertaken and to discuss a way forward if not.

Areas A and B will be inspected commencing Spring 2023.
